I’ll be going versus the grain here and say that Pain purposefully waited for May Man to leave before assaulting the village
Every response so far has actually reasoned that Pain>> X>> May Guy. I believe a direct contrast reveals that Man has distinct advantages in this match-up. If Man had 6 gates open he would be able to secure 4 of 6 Discomforts near instantaneously. Presuming in this circumstance he changed places with Naruto he would have:
- Katsuyu’s intel.
- Deva Course on cooldown after nuking the village
- Possible assistance from the town against animal path’s summons.
Asura Path: Mechanized Puppeteer with Missiles
This pain is lethal when utilized in conjunction with Deva Path’s universal pull. Asura course will destroy shinobi who are weak versus taijutsu; clearly, this isn’t the case with Might Guy. I will say that this is among the weaker pains. He is more fit towards eliminating users of long-range ninjutsu or those with lower chakra reserves. This Pain eliminated Kakashi due to the fact that 1) no one understood much about Discomfort’s abilities at this point and 2) Asura path’s resilience enabled him to last longer than Kakashi’s naturally low chakra reserves. Kakashi loses because he lacks stamina/chakra that Naruto has.
Although formidable, after Naruto achieves Sage Mode his taijutsu is still inferior to May Guy’s. May Person does not have a time limit either. With Person, the match-up would look more like:
Human Path: Reads minds by ripping their soul out of a person’s body
As beneficial as this ability is for gathering intel, Nagato hardly ever utilizes this course in battle. I believe Discomfort will probably use the Human Path as a sacrificial piece to protect the Naraka path. Without a protective capability, Human Course will be squashed.
Again, refer to:
Preta Course: Absorbs chakra and all forms of ninjutsu
Preta Path is near unequalled against 99%of shinobi. Consider the sheer number of pure ninjutsu users that are made worthless due to the fact that of this person. Preta Path forces shinobi to abandon their ninjutsu and switch to taijutsu or genjutsu and then are clobbered by Asura Course’s puppeteering expertise. I can’t worry just how dominating this person is; and yet, he is completely useless versus the ultimate taijutsu master. He will be stomped in an immediate.
Naraka Course: Interrogates enemies and reanimates fallen allies.
Naraka Path summons what is called “The King of Hell”, a gateway with the capability to take the souls of those who lie and rejuvenate any Pains that have been ruined. For this factor, Naraka path is constantly at the back of the formation in order to revive fallen allies. In the match-up versus Might Man, 3 Discomforts would be downed in the course of a minute. There would be no time at all for restoring them.
4 down: 2 to go … Okay, here’s where things get difficult. If Person is going to lose to Discomfort, its going to be since of these people however I believe its clear at this moment that Pain has a serious weakness to Kage level taijutsu. Keep in mind, its not the power level that matters, its the match-up. At 6 gates, Guy can move much faster than Discomfort’s response time and deliver terrible blows in quick succession. This nullifies the benefit offered to the rinnegan’s connected vision. Pain merely can not dodge blows that he either can’t see or can’t respond to. This is a HUGE advantage for Person!
Man is more than strong enough to one shot the 4 pains that I discussed above. If you have any doubts, see Guy’s final fight against Kisame which spliced together is about 2 minutes long.
Animal Path: Summons immortal monsters to combat for him
Animal Path has a clear benefit against Person. He can summon wave after wave of OP never-ceasing monsters to occupy Person’s time while Deva Path is charging his capabilities. I think this is where Pain has the greatest edge in the match-up; it would be foolish of him not to make the most of this. If Deva Course is permitted to recharge then the opportunities of Person winning versus Nagato at the end would crater from 99%to about 20%. As for Man’s technique, he would likely utilize Early morning Peacock on the summons, open the 7th gate, and after that kick Animal Path in the back of the head.
Deva Course: manipulates gravity to push/pull things and individuals
Deva Path has actually been on cooldown for most of the battle. He is easily the most flexible and effective of the Discomforts. Assuming that Person doesn’t bash him into the ground before he’s charged, this will be Discomfort’s one shot to secure success. He has 3 courses to victory. 1) He delivers an almighty push effective adequate to incapicitate Man. 2) Pain is forced to utilize Chibaku Tensei. 3) Might Guy opens the 8th gate and dies from his injuries prior to he can confront Nagato in the forest. # 2 is the most likely. This is why I provide Tendo an 80%of defeating Person upon regaining his capabilities.
To be clear, I am not some Person fanboy. He’s definitely not my favorite character. I just believe the Rinnegan is gimmicky and doesn’t hold water versus a taijutsu user of Person’s quality. Like Itachi stated to Sasuke when fighting Kabuto, “every jutsu has a weak point”. The six paths strategy is no various.
In the show there are a large handful of jonin that I would consider “Kage tier”. Any shinobi of Kage quality can defeat another if the match-up is right. The only exceptions are when you get to the God-tier at the end of FGNW. God-tier shinobi such as Madara, Obito, Hashirama, etc. don’t have weak points and thus it becomes a matter of X>> Y>> Z.
Feel free to argue in the comments.:D
